The Index is a compilation of information on the "health" of aquatic resources in the United States. The Index looks at a variety of indicators that point to whether rivers, lakes, streams, wetlands and coastal areas are "well" or "ailing" and whether activities on the surrounding lands that affect our waters are placing them at risk.

AIRSWeb, sponsored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Air Quality Planning & Standards, provides access to air pollution data for the entire United States. The site includes such information as the highest ozone level measured by state, where air pollution monitoring sites are located, and what the sources of air pollution are. The site also creates custom reports using criteria that are specified, and displays standard maps of the United States.

The United States Department of Energy, through their Smart Communities Network, is offering this toolkit about sustainable development and the resources available in the field. The site includes a collection of indicators of sustainability, news articles, publications, manuals, and software that is available to understand the issues involved in sustainable development.

The United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) has developed this site to explore the indicators of sustainable development. As part of the implementation of the Work Program on Indicators of Sustainable Development (ISDs) adopted by the Commission, a working list of 134 indicators and related methodology sheets has been developed and is now available for voluntary testing at the national level, by countries from all regions of the world. The aim of the CSD with respect to ISDs is to have an agreed set of indicators available for all countries to use by the year 2000.
