DOE
Complex Electrical Event Charts
March 2008
Analysis of EFCOG Electrical Safety Charts for
March 2008
March 2008 was a very good month, with a total of
only five electrical events across the DOE complex. There were no
08J Electrical Near Misses, and only one 08A Electrical Shock.
These are the lowest levels since December 2006.
There were zero 08J Electrical Near Misses for EM
in March. It appears that the rate for this chart has dropped
back to the baseline of less than one per month, recovering from
the spike of four reports in January. There have been no 08A
Electrical Shocks for EM since the spike of three reports in
January. Overall, EM appears to have returned to the improved
baselines that existed prior to January 2008.
The SC chart for total Electrical Events
demonstrates a significant improving trend, with the past seven
months below the baseline average.
“A4B1C01 - Management policy guidance /
expectations not well-defined, understood or enforced” remains in
first place as the leading cause of 08J electrical near misses
over the past 12 months.
