Analysis of EFCOG Electrical Safety Charts for July 2010.

New average and control limits have been calculated for all charts which have had trends reported in recent months.

There were 26 Electrical Events across DOE in July 2010, a significant increasing trend..  This was above the Upper Control Limit.  This is the highest number of events in a single month for DOE since the beginning of tracking this data (July 2004).

There were three 08A Electrical Shocks at EM for July.  This was two standard deviations above average.  If August or September receive three or more events, this will be a significant increasing trend.

There is a significant increasing trend in 08J Electrical Near Misses for the SC field office.  May and July had two events each, and this is two of three months in a row at two standard deviations above average.  There have been seven Near Misses in the past five months, as compared to seven Near Misses in the previous thirteen months.  SC Program Office had nine events in July 2010, which was above the Upper Control Limit.  This is the highest number of events in a single month for the SC Program Office since the beginning of tracking this data (July 2004).

There were eight Electrical Events at NA for July.  This was two standard deviations above average.  If August or September receive three or more events, this will be a significant increasing trend.

Causes A3B1C03 – “Incorrect performance due to mental lapse” remains the leading cause for more than 12 months.  A3B2C02 – “Signs to stop were ignored and step performed incorrectly” stays in second place, and is tied for second place with two other causes.
