Analysis of EFCOG Electrical Safety Charts
for July 2010.
New average and control limits have been
calculated for all charts which have had trends reported in
recent months.
There were 26 Electrical Events across DOE in July 2010, a
significant increasing trend..
This was above the Upper Control
Limit.
This is the highest number of events
in a single month for DOE since the beginning of tracking this
data (July 2004).
There were three 08A Electrical Shocks at
EM for July.
This was two standard deviations
above average.
If August or September receive three
or more events, this will be a significant increasing trend.
There is a significant
increasing trend in 08J Electrical Near Misses for the SC field
office.
May and July had two events each,
and this is two of three months in a row at two standard
deviations above average.
There have been seven Near Misses in
the past
five
months, as compared to seven Near Misses in the previous
thirteen months.
SC Program Office
had nine events in July 2010, which was above the Upper Control
Limit.
This is the highest number of events
in a single month for the SC Program Office since the beginning
of tracking this data (July 2004).
There were eight Electrical Events at NA
for July.
This was two standard deviations
above average.
If August or September receive three
or more events, this will be a significant increasing trend.
Causes A3B1C03 – “Incorrect performance due
to mental lapse” remains the leading cause for more than 12
months.
A3B2C02 – “Signs to stop were
ignored and step performed incorrectly” stays in second place,
and is tied for second place with two other causes.
