INTRODUCTION

These are the Proceedings of the SA-2000 Workshop held April 28 to May 4, 2000, in Santa Fe, NM. These Proceedings document the workshop technical sessions and speakers and are a collection of the current safety analysis work being performed within the DOE Complex.

The theme of this year's workshop was "Building a Bridge to the 21st Century - Development and Maintenance of Core Safety Analysis Capability." In general, we hope that the variety of presentation formats, increased selection of training opportunities, and interactions of analysts and managers from the DOE complex helped each attendee to assess where he is at professionally and identify what the future may require. We specifically hope that your participation in the workshop has helped you build on your existing tools and knowledge to be a success.

On behalf of the workshop planning team, we thank our sponsors, exhibitors, trainers, and all the attendees for participating in SA-2000. We, personally, thank the workshop planning team for all their dedication and hard work in ensuring a successful Tenth Annual Safety Analysis Workshop of the Safety Analysis Working Group (SAWG). We hope that you found the workshop valuable and that these proceedings will provide a much-used resource for your career. We look forward to seeing you at the next workshop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sincerely,

  David J. Seidel   Brad Evans
