Meeting Information

• The SSWG Steering Committee will meet on January 19, 2010.

• Site Access and Badging Information:  From the Oak Ridge area, the primary access to the Laboratory is provided by ORNL Protective Force members stationed at the east entry portal located on Bethel Valley Road.  All personnel displaying HSPD-12 or DOE Standard badges will be allowed access through the portal.  The Office of Science badge is not accepted at ORNL.  If you do not possess an HSPD-12 or DOE Standard badge, please contact the ORNL Personnel Security Manager, Dave Keller at kellerdn@ornl.gov for assistance.

• Where to Park:  Upon entering the site, proceed west on Bethel Valley Road to the Conference Center Parking Lot.  Due to the large number of personnel who work and visit ORNL, parking spaces fill up quickly.  However, if you arrive by 8:00 a.m., spaces are normally available.  The Conference Center Parking Lot is located across from the Visitor and Conference Center, on the north side of Bethel Valley Road, and is accessible from the round-a-bout.  It is a short walking distance to the Visitor and Conference Center from this parking area.  Please do not park in the Visitor Center Lot on the south side of Bethel Valley adjacent to the Visitor Center.  The Visitor Center Parking Area is reserved for short-term visitor processing and is not to be used by persons attending conferences.      

• Controlled Articles Information:  Meetings will be held in the ORNL Conference Center, which is designated as a Property Protection Area.  Therefore, portable electronic devices (including cell phones, PDAs and laptops) are allowed in the meeting location.  Prohibited Articles, as defined in DOE 470.4-2A, Physical Protection, are not allowed on the ORNL Campus.

• ORNL Smoking policy:  Smoking is not permitted in any building on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Campus or in government vehicles at any time.  Smoking is only permitted in designated areas utilizing designated receptacles.

• Conference Center Support:  Administrative support will be provided on Wednesday (1/20) and Thursday (1/21).  An Audio Visual technician will also be available on Wednesday morning to assist with presentations, if necessary.   All briefings, handouts and discussions must be unclassified, as the ORNL Conference Center is not designated as a Limited Area.
